2020 MLB Running Thread

    If the union felt the two were endangering the health and most of all, paychecks of their Indians chapter, it might not feel the need to support the miscreants.

    But if the players themselves pushed for the grievance, the union can't just say, no, we're not doing that. If their contractual rights are violated, and the players want it, I would think a grievance must be filed.

    We see this in NHL all the time. NHLPA will always back a player facing suspension at expense of player fouled. Why? To protect against precedent.

    That's a rational thought. Yet as Elliotte references in hockey, the MLBPA will always defend a pitcher suspended for throwing at a hitter. Of course, that might not apply if somebody throws a pitch that kills a batter one of these years.

    I agree that their anger is driven more by the betrayal of their trust, especially by Clevinger. I also think the team is probably violating the CBA, especially if it costs the two players service time.
