This thing has morphed from "Of course we won't play unless there are students on campus" to "We need to get the students into remote classes so that we can make the campus a safe bubble for the football players." I think we're going to see a lot of schools trying to push 80% of the students off campus, with the other 20% being athletes, grad students who are teaching or otherwise doing valuable work, and those who are isolated in areas of the campus who have zero contact with the team.

I'll believe it when it happens, but ...

If some teams break away to play a half-assed fall football season, it literally will be the end of the Big 10 conference.

The person who said that is:

    1. A doctor
    2. Didn't want football, period, come hell or high.

He's the president at Michigan. He won this round.

Not good for the people who think it’s not that bad and we should play come hell or high.

You know it's coming, pushing most of the students online and using the campus as a bubble for the football players.

Sally Jenkins perspective toward college sports hews pretty close to "heads I win, tails you lose."

Now that the Big Ten has finally explained itself, the lasers will be focused on the other three leagues. It's gonna get hot on the ACC pretty quick, and the Big 12 after that.

It'll be tough to take down the SEC Goliath, though.

He* killed a certain team last year.

*too lazy to look up to see if he was the actual QB in the UT game last year but wanted to make the macabre joke anyway,

I don’t think the Big Ten’s explanation will apply immediate heat. If the Three Amigos split, the facts on the ground — and in the air — will be the factors that cause the fissure. They’re in this together until the issues the Big Ten and PAC 12 cited in their decisions get so bad and so obvious that everyone has to shut it down.
