Tenth Avenue Freeze Out - Bing video

The line "Big Man joined the band" in the third verse is about Clarence Clemons. It refers to the first time when he and Bruce Springsteen met. Clemons was a social worker at the time and played in a Jersey Shore bar band before joining Springsteen as the band's long-time saxophonist.

All 80s saxophone rock is a footnote to Branford Marsalis on Sting's 'Nothing Like the Sun.'

All the horns in this one are outstanding.

    Re: Branford Marsalis ...

One of my favorite Dead songs is Eyes of the World with Branford on sax.

On the way back from one of the Vermont shows we stayed at a motel in Syracuse. I drove to get dinner. It was dark and Syracuse got slammed with rain. The diner was a mile or so from the motel. On the way back I got lost because that part of the city was circular, much like San Luis Obispo, be careful or you'll get lost, which is what happened that night, in the dark, as it poured rain, and I was somewhat stoned and exhausted from a long day on the road. The more lost I got the angrier I became. The only thing that kept me from blowing my lid was this song, thanks mostly to Branford. I found the right street back to the motel.

Lowe was at his most punchable here. Headband, dangly earring, mullet and muscle shirt.

    Speaking of movie sax.

Wasn't just in the 1980s, obviously. A couple great Rolling Stones songs and Springsteen/E Street Band already have been mentioned.

And of course, saxophonist Dick Parry brought so much to Pink Floyd songs like 'Money,' 'Us and Them' and 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' that they brought him on tour.

    BTW, great thread title.
