Don Sutton was the kid when he showed up.
I could live to be 1,000 years old and never forget the Jeffrey Leonard double play prediction from Skip.
    Just awesome.

I can live with Michael Kay.

But when I am stuck in the car listening, Sterling and Suzyn Waldman make me want to pull what little hair I have left out.

Sterling sounds like he is sitting in front of a mirror fixing his hair the whole game. It's also never about describing what is actually happening, it's always about John Sterling. She. ... well, I can't think of a thing I like about her, from the chalkboard voice and Boston accent on down. It's one thing not to add to the broadcast, it feels like she goes out of her way to make it unlistenable. They are both pretty old now, and I feel like when you get up there in years, fans are supposed to have a soft spot for you and make excuses for how bad you are. But I really just wish they would go away, enjoy their retirement anywhere except on the air.

Who did Sterling replace? In the late 70s, wasn't there a different fourth on Skip, Ernie and Pete's team?

I'm old enough that I remember when TBS/The Superstation was WTRG, channel 17 on the UHF dial. They built a big new broadcast tower and had nearly as good a signal as the three network stations. Ted Turner was off to the races.

Waldman has recently developed an excruciating tic where something on the field will happen, and she'll just go "Hm," like someone busy liking Facebook memes just noticed the neighbor's house is on fire.

Darrel Chaney from 1981 to 1982; he replaced Hank Aaron, who didn’t hit many home runs in one season as a broadcaster. And then John Sterling arrived in time for the Braves’ rotten years.

Darrell Chaney had a couple of years on the radio side.

EDIT: Beaten to the punch by 2MCM!

I first got TBS in 1985 and it was Skip, Van Wiern, Sterling and Ernie Johnson. Sterling was doing the Hawks as well.

He was on TV, too. The broadcast teams generally switched booths at the point the game became official, which had to have been a cluster.
