So you're saying the NCAA also runs media outlets?

    I quote your post.

"I think in recent weeks the national college football reporters have toned down the rhetoric - as did the SI baseball writer - because, once the seasons actually start, you either cover them or forfeit your job out of moral opposition. No one is going to do the latter.

Stewart Mandel actually apologized for his tone, which I found to be an honorable thing to do."

And from quote from another post.

"And none of the reporters Brando is talking about are going to lose their jobs. Not a one."

You praise writers for toning down their "rhetoric" because of concerns for their jobs. Preserving a job is protecting an economic interest. You seem to support journalists advocate the continuation of college football this season to keep their jobs.

I didn't praise their toning down of rhetoric. I find it self-serving, honestly; they pulled the "what are we doing?" routine until, guess what, time to cover the damn thing. Which, they will. It'd be more honorable if they quit in moral protest, a kind of "I'm sorry, but I can't do this" stance. I do find it honorable that a writer would say, yeah, his tone was off a little bit. He wasn't preserving his job in doing it; he was checking himself. I appreciate that.

But if there hadn't been football, I do not believe any of those national writers would have been laid off.

With the state of Michigan reopening HS sports, I'd guess U-M and MSU will now be given the ok for a delayed start in mid-September, which I'd guess will swing the momentum for a B1G fall season. Previously, the state of Michigan, aka "that woman" Whitmer, had been quite adamant against restarting until probably spring.

The sudden about-face is pretty unnerving. Almost like somebody woke up with a horse head in their bed.

That Penn State news was for 11 athletes total, so 3-4 with heart issues. Still very concerning.

Pre-existing but undiagnosed heart ailments or did COVID cause?

Of course they were pre-existing. Everyone knows Covid is just the flu.

It will be hard to tell unless there have EKG's etc. in their medical records. I don't know that doing baseline exams like that on healthy athletes was prevalent before Covid, nor do I know how many schools have done them for safety before this season began.
