Conferences are mixing and matching. So there will be ACC or SEC officials in Morgantown (I think there are only three Big 12 officials within the driving distance of no more than 10 hours each way of Morgantown). Likely some B1G as well.

The Colorado Big 12 officials I know won't be going to Austin (I think Lubbock is the farthest).

Oh, I've done plenty of doubleheaders over the years.

Never done 6-man, or seen it. Hears it's like doing a basketball game.

This was our second doubleheader weve done in our 10 years as a crew together.
6 man is wild. Some friends of ours had a 6 man playoff game a couple years ago that was 118-85 or something like that.

I get a doubleheader on average about once every other year. Had two last year.

Ha. More like scheduling. We play at a lot of district stadiums and doubleheaders are played there. If a crew is already there, and we're short as it is, just keep the crew there and do games at 4 and 7:30.

It’s still the offseason for many teams.

My daughters’ school does 8 man, and it can get crazy. I can’t imagine what 6 man looks like.

Rice has delayed the start of football practice "due to concerns regarding the infection rate of the coronavirus in Houston."

    Start of football practices delayed

"The Owls were scheduled to start their season on Oct. 3 in West Virginia against Marshall University. Whether or not that happens, is now up to C-USA. According to Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations Chuck Pool, there is no definitive answer on when the season will start.

“Conference USA will take a look at the situation, and it will be up to them whether or not the impacted game(s) are rescheduled or canceled,” Pool said."

    A source tells
    @YahooSports
to expect Rice to postpone its games against Marshall (10/3) and UAB (10/10). According to the schedule Rice set forth, they wouldn’t be able to get 25 practices in 29 days by the UAB game.

If the UAB game can't be rescheduled it will mean that UAB will only play six conference games, as ODU had been scheduled and cancelled their season.

When Jack Pardee was in high school in West Texas he played six man. Both ways, at RB and LB. How tough does a kid have to be to do that?

Observations on socially distant seating from a UAB message board. BTW, UAB currently leads the NCAA in football attendance. <grin> 12,716 announced, 18% of 72k seats.

The ticket office dispersed all season ticket groups and left an aisle open between rows with seats. Students and the band were in the end zone. This was freely ignored as social distancing broke down a bit once the game started.

"If your seats were on an aisle,, forget about it,, they want 2 empty seats next to all aisles. They also set up the seating to leave an empty row between all rows with assigned seats. We had some problems with this because some students took up unoccupied seats and rows beside, behind and in front of our row. The on that I complained ( tried to instruct her on the regs) said they didnt have assigned seats and could sit anywhere they wanted to."

"Once you got inside Legion Field:
    1) Voluntary Social Distancing: You could sit where you wanted as no one called you on it. Students (and others) did indeed sit where they wanted.
I suspect many season ticket holders didn't show. Some folks not only sat in my seat but the surrounding seats as a group on multiple rows. I didn't want to get into it so I just moved to an empty socially distant seat only to have the same thing happen. Which brings me to ...
    2) Voluntary Mask Wearing: once folks got inside many just removed their masks."

"I'm not fussing loudly about it, but it did irk me a little.

If we're going to be every bit as casual about seating as we were last year, there was no reason to move me out of the seats I paid for."

"The funny thing was that in the Blazer club at the start of the game nearly everyone was wearing a mask and kept it on unless eating or drinking. Then halftime arrived and it was like everyone decided that Legion Field hot dogs granted one immunity to Covid. The masks came off and mostly stayed off."
