The right decision. Can't do that.

Though Serena in the face of the linesperson years back and she wasn't defaulted is still wrong.

You can’t hit someone. Everyone, every player on the telecast, says you know the rules. It was an easy decision.

BS theatrics?? I love how ignorant people speculate. Guess what, the easiest thing in the world is to “wonder” what happened. Getting the facts is what’s hard. If you’ve ever been even accidentally hit on neck , happens on basketball court, it’s one of the scariest things. Yet go ahead, continue to speculate and err on side of lady making it up.

Looked that up on the interwebs, wow. Incredibly scary. If all that happened to Shapovalov was defaulting one match, he was quite fortunate.

I don't know that it was theatrics. Obviously Djokovic didn't hit the ball hard relatively speaking, but when we're used to seeing 120+ MPH serves, a 40-MPH tap doesn't look hard, but still at someone's neck/throat it probably fucking hurts.

I suppose she could have been defaulted, but her case is unusual in that the code violation she did receive resulted in a point penalty --- on match point --- which ended the match anyway. Default simply would have removed all her tournament points and winnings to that point (assuming WTA sanctions are/were similar to what Djokovic got). And then she could appeal --- "How can I be defaulted from a match I already lost?"

Djoker or no, today, the RD of 16 is one of the best of the year. IIRC this was the night we all saw some skinny Commie rip one hand backhands down the line and befuddle the reigning No 1 player McEnroe under the lights. Name the player for the party bag of chips.

All I know is Shapovalov (Canadian commie?) was on another fucking planet last night. On-the-dead-run forehand laser beams down the line. Backhand laser beams down the line. Even a couple of tremendous volleys.

I'm just pulling for an all-one-hand-backhand final.

Tony Kubek and his fucking theatrics.

First guess would have to be Lendl.

He looked fantastic. Osaka was very sharp, except on break points.

If Serena had done what Novak did:

    A. I don't think she would have been defaulted.

    B. If she had, the media would be in collective, shaking rage today over it.
