It’s hockey, there’s no arrogance or hubris about them. Teams should aspire to play like the Lightning and the league needs to stop having two different sets of rules for the regular season and the playoffs. The league forces parity by allowing lesser skilled teams to compete with the highly skilled teams by allowing the garbage they do.

Pretty sure Cooper was in the Caps mix when they hired Adam Oates - how'd that work out??

The coach the Caps considered hiring and the one they let get away for no good reason - competing for a spot in the Stanley Cup Final. This is why my ulcers are acting up.

One thing teams benefit from are guys who come through who were miscast in other places
Shattenkirk is one. So is Bogosian
On the last champion Wings team, a guy like that was Brad Stuart
He was the No. 3 pick in the draft by San Jose but he had rocky times there and in Boston
Detroit picked him up and asked him to be what he was — a solid, second-pair defenseman
Worked out well for team and player

I am glad Shattenkirk has done well. He seems like a good guy and the way things played out in NY was tough. I don't think he's the number one defenseman they had slotted him in as, but he was playing hurt that first season and things were coming to an end with the group they had. I don't think staying in NY would have benefited him or the team, I just wish the cap hit wasn't so bad. But that isn't his fault, and I am glad he found the right place.

Bolts are doing this without Stamkos. Amazing.

Reaves is like Corey Perry. He's an asshole. But to Vegas fans, he's their asshole.

Well, as a Caps fan, I would definitely have to say the same thing about Tom Wilson.

I can't express how much I can't stand Tom Wilson.

Same for me with Geno Malkin and Patric Hornqvist. And now Anders Lee.

Kris Letang is annoying but becomes a monster douche anytime Pierre refers to him as "Kristofer." Which is every time.

He’s nothing like Corey Perry, Corey Perry was a great hockey player, Reaves is not. Hockey Night in Canada loves to go on about Reaves and his contribution, they are completely overblown.
