Tom Sheehan. Interim manager of the Giants in 1960 after Bill Rigney was fired.

I didn't double-check, but I think you have to go back to the 1912 Highlanders to find a Yankees team with 100-plus losses.

If research is accurate, it was Burt Shotten, and then only because he managed his last game hours after Mack managed his.

Giants have DFAed the Panda, probably for the final time. Most noted for destroying Justin Verlander in Game 1 of the 2012 World Series sweep against the Tigers.

Ron Gardenhire wears team hoodies or "coaches shirts," but very rarely a jersey as far as I can see.

I can't believe they kept him on the roster as long as he did at his weight.

I never knew there was a rule about wearing a jersey. If they had on a jersey and a warmup, it would probably be too bulky and hot. I knew that Lasorda and Scioscia, as managers, did not wear the jersey. I always thought it was because they had to tuck in the jersey. Their belly would roll over the belt and make them look fatter than they already were. They didn't have to tuck in the warmup. Us fatties know all the tricks. Never tuck in a shirt.

One of the many oddities of baseball will be, when World Series home runs are mentioned, Babe Ruth, Reggie Jackson, Albert Pujols and Pablo Sandoval will be in the same sentence.

That's gotta be among one of the worst contracts ever, and probably the worst ever given by the Red Sox.

Same with Boone. I’m not sure he has a number.

Red Sox rookie first baseman Bobby Dalbec hit a home run in the fifth inning tonight, giving him homers in five consecutive games. He has six home runs in his first 10 major-league games.
