And if Dak Prescott banged open the front door, Skippy Boy would piss his panties into a little yellow puddle.

We're nearing three years since I lost four family members tragically. Not suicide, but some serious crap as most here know about. In those three years, I've gone through what I felt were bouts of depression. Never diagnosed. Never medicated. Honestly, losing my job nine months ago gave me some time to reset (and to get out of a toxic environment). It's not pretty. This week is rough, with the twins' birthdays, nearing the anniversary. Mental health is a serious, serious issue and should not be taken lightly. We all have our inner demons, issues we deal with. To do what Skip did is beyond the pale.

Yep. If he had said getting cancer is a sign of weakness, he'd have been shouted into oblivion by now. But he'll skate on this because the old-school mindset that equates mental illness with weakness is still around. And it thrives in the bullshit macho football universe, which says you have to keep playing without excuse.

    1. Who the hell cares, Dak Prescott least of all, if Fox Sports, a subsidiary/affiliate/offshoot of a fascist propaganda fire hydrant built on pandering to moronic slack-jawed sensationalism, is "proud" of him? Like having Fox Sports "proud of you" is some kind of honor.

    2. So, in other words, they're doing nothing to Skippy.

I always believed the degradation of our civil dialogue sort of began with shouting sportswriter shows, and other tripe.

The third act of Skip Bayless will be interesting.
ESPN/FOX paid him well to act the fool for years.
It's almost like it's all these guys can do after a while.

There aren't going to be old white guys
with terrible takes on TV anymore
    when everything gets sorted out.

How is Skip Bayless not only still working in journalism, but able to hold high level jobs? This isn't the first time he's said something like this. Hell 25 years ago he was the originator of the absurd speculation about Troy Aikman's sexuality.

At no point in his career do I see anything resembling a unique point of view of abundance of talent. Yet he's managed to fail upwards.

    Which is worse?

That Bayless says these things and believes them?

Or that Bayless says these things without believing them?

And to his "point,' there've been plenty of great leaders beset by depression, including Ulysses S Grant and Abraham Lincoln and William Tecumseh Sherman.

Like the time Jim Everett kicked Jane Rome’s ass on TV. Every time you hear Rome’s name you have to picture the little fraud cowering on the floor.

Bayless is a pile of snot without redeeming humane values. And an intellectual midget. Seeking mental health treatment for depression is no different than going to Orthopedist for knee problems. I’m convinced Bayless is in desperate need of actual mental health treatment, he’s a sick old man.

As others said regarding this show's ratings, it's really debatable whether it is a high-level job. I wouldn't have known about this at all if I hadn't seen it on sj. And there's so many opinion chairs now that the only way you get noticed is if you have an offensive take or an over-the-top emotional take, like Herbstreit the other day.
