2020 MLB postseason thread

I cannot think of anything more uncomfortable than watching your closer pitch with a five-run lead in the eighth inning.

They’re almost guaranteed to give up two runs.

 

Their last playoff win was Oct. 5, 2004. They getting some of those mail-in ballots that are floating around?

 

They lost four in a row to the Angels in the 2002 ALCS. Won game 1 in 2004. Then lost 18 in a row.

They are 1-22 in their last 23 in the postseason.

 

At least it’s less than a week from being able to drive.

 

And it can still get married in some southern states.

An otherwise good piece with one odd graf.

Since 04, here’s the breakdown of WS participants and champions by AL division:

East: 6/5
Central: 5/2
West: 4/1

Now here’s the graf:

The Twins should have lost some—perhaps even all—of those series. They play in the AL Central, so they often emerge as the winners of a weak division. This means they are often unworthy of their opponents and also that they are often the visiting team. Six of those losses have come at Yankee Stadium.

Weak division?

 

I would think a division's overall weakness would be determined by the teams that didn't win it, not by the teams that did. And the AL Central, though some decent teams have emerged at the top, has been awful for decades.

 

Is that how you judge the strength of a division?

 

When did Jose Mesa change his last name to Hand? Ugh.

Seems like the last place this guy wants to be is on the mound.

You can’t hurt Cleveland fans. We have to lose in extra innings of Game 7 of the World Series for it to even register as mild pain. We are impervious.
