The American version of selfishness is not innate to humanity. It’s a value we choose to instill as a culture.

It was a pretty good cultural ethos for ruthlessly exploiting a vast continent of natural resources that you just stole from the millions of people living there. It finds itself maladaptive for competing in the modern world.

It’s a pretty common historic cycle: Get powerful under a set of cultural ideals that worked well with your circumstances, circumstances then change and you fall to the internal infighting over whether to change the ideals that got you there.

Oh and a press conference by doctors said everything is fine and Trump is getting better.

a few minutes later the White House press pool was sent a statement in background that said Trump is doing worse and that he’s not on a clear path to full recovery.

also the timeline the doctors laid out indicate Trump knew he was sick, traveled and met with people anyway.

    ‘It’s a hoax. There’s no pandemic’:
Trump’s base stays loyal as president fights Covid

Sean Patterson is not worried that Donald Trump has been hospitalized with coronavirus because he believes what the president tells him.

“It’s a hoax. There’s no pandemic. As Trump said, how many millions die of flu?” said the 56-year-old truck driver outside the early voting station in St Joseph, Missouri – a stronghold for the president.

But then Patterson pauses and contemplates the possibility that Trump really does have Covid-19.

“If he’s sick, then they planted it when they tested him. It’s what they did to me when I went to hospital for my heart beating too fast. Two weeks later I got a cold,” he said. “It’s political. I don’t trust the US government at all. Who are they to mandate personal safety? I listen to Trump.”

And he's lost 20 pounds and is down to 238!

And as far as the aforementioned Mr. Sean Patterson, who supports Trump but doesn't trust the US government: As President, Trump is the US government. I don't trust him either!

What’s the mail-in counting process there? I agree, great news for Dems. But concerned if it takes too long there will be a massive effort to stop counting.

Selfishness, in general, is innate to humanity. Who are we kidding?

This may be irresponsible. It looks like CNN had a story ready to go that said the vitals were troublesome “over the past 24 hours.” Then a series of doctors spoke at a press conference. One of them said Trump’s vitals were normal this morning. That, it seems to me, should supersede the previous. Maybe the vitals were troubling yesterday. But several doctors, at least one of whom is not permanently tied to Trump, indicated recent readings were good.

A source familiar with the President's health told the White House pool on background that "the President's vitals over last 24 hours were very concerning and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care. We are still not on a clear path to a full recovery."

Just moments ago, Trump's physician Dr. Sean Conley said in a news conference that "this morning the President is doing very well."

CNN is seeking further clarification from the White House regarding the comment.

At least 25 known cases from the White House cluster now. Many of them fairly old. The odds that someone dies are getting up there.
