I have a Ping Redwood putter and I’ve had a few drivers over the years. Great clubs and they offer almost everything lefty. I have a 15 degree hybrid that hits head-high bullets.

I’m getting back into golf and if I get a new set next year it will be Ping Blueprint irons, retro lofts. I’m going to take it right down to the 2 iron even though that won’t be in my bag for play.

Ping is great for pro shops because they don’t discount to big box stores and they can fit any player. Great product line.

I've owned three sets of clubs since high school.

    1. A mismatched set of odd-numbered irons from my father's friend, plus my Dad's old woods.
    2. The cheapest set of Wilsons from Big Five Sporting Goods in 1982.
    3. Taylormade Rac OS irons and Burner Rescue hybrids from GolfSmith some time in the 2000s.

I actually should splurge and spend my first Social Security check on a nice set of clubs. (Although the clubs aren't the reason why I'm not good at the game.)

Ping Eye 2s are probably the watershed for moving golf from blades. (Maybe it was the Tommy Armours) but Eye 2s were fantastic. Easy to hit, forgiving, but never discounted.

The Ping Answer putter is still the one; unfortunately Scotty Cameron took that design and is just printing $$ (They have better feel than an Answer; I have a Newport 2 and it's sweet.)

After my Dad died, I sent his old Ping putter back to the company for restoration. Came back absolutely beautiful and I gave it to my uncle. One of these days I'll send back his Eye 2s for the same treatment; I have a more recent set of Pings and figure I could mimic those specs on the old clubs (shafts, lengths, grips) and the only difference will be lofts. Granted, that'll be a big difference since all companies have delofted clubs over the years so they can brag about greater distance.

Had a set of Ping Zing 2 green dots.
The 4-iron was what I got my hole in one with. Liked them a lot.
Also had a Copper Ping Anser. Traded it for the Scotty Cameron I have today.

    Sounds like mine.

First was a bag I should've called Chicken Nuggets because it was pieces-parts. I enjoyed the day my wooden driver exploded and I was left with shards of wood, the face and a shaft.

Next was a set of Wilson Andy Bean irons and Wilson "metal" woods. Used those for too many years until my current bag, which is comprised of castoffs from my son's sets.

My constant, though, is the Ping B 60 putter from 1987, which replaced the Wilson "Gray Slab of Something Metalic" that I used for years.

If I played more often I'd spring for better clubs.

I started learning to golf with my nephew a few months ago. Kid is a natural. I’m a middle-aged doofus with no athletic ability. We have fun.

Peter Malnati shot a 63 and finished about two hours ago at the Sanderson Farms Championship. He's been playing with his kid on the lawn while Sergio Garcia has played the back nine. They're tied with one hole left.

EDIT: Of course, Sergio hits it within three feet and birdies the last. Still, Malnati takes home $720,000.

Sergio's 3 wood from 260 to 3 feet on 14 was fairly special.

    I need Malnati's white/pink Titleist bucket hat.
