I thought the cold open and Weekend Update were good, not great. Most of the show was kind of "meh" to me, and some of the writing / skits seemed like they came from a late 1990s, early 2000s episode. Like, it's weird that we got a sketch about NBA sidepieces from 2020 SNL.

Yeah, it wasn't a great episode. I did like the Drew Barrymore Show sketch. Chloe Fineman is a ridiculously good impressionist, and I'd love to see some showdowns between her and Melissa Villaseñor.

Maybe they need a few more cast members. Most of the women didn't get more than a walk through. Where were Strong and Villasenor?

Strong got a brief spot in the cold open as that crazy Republican lady from what feels like 5 months ago, at this point. I'm not sure if she was on the rest of the show. It seemed like McKinnon wasn't in much of the show either. Then again, who knows? When you've got roughly 20 castmembers and featured players, plus Baldwin and Carey and Maya Rudolph, plus using Megan Thee Stallion in two sketches... It's all just a muddled mess. Nobody stands out. Maybe that's Lorne's plan, though. Nobody becomes a movie star, and the ratings are goosed anyway because of Baldwin, etc. all doing a political sketch each week.

You didn't enjoy watching Chris read from the cue cards/teleprompter? Funny as he is, he has never been good on that show.

The problem with SNL is that you can find more original comedy by spending 5 minutes scrolling thru Tik Tok.
SNL should double down on the big set pieces, musical skits, and high-dollar productions that the Internet can’t provide.

Was really hoping SJ legend Haywood Jablome would have a cameo in the name change sketch but oh well.

That was so lazy. They did the exact same sketch last season with Rachel Brosnahan.

I was OK with the mindless, juvenile humor.

He make DeNiro look subtle in the way he reads the cue cards.
