I get Songbird's point here. I've noticed a trend to mixed race couples in ads, something that would NOT have happened a few years ago. It's an indicator of how societal norms are changing.

Are you also concerned if she walked on the lawn?

Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with this commercial. It’s 2020. Delivery people don’t wear dresses.

How do Pandemics End? on BBC.com is a wonderful piece of work and also touches on what we are talking about here.

    You missed the fucking point.

    I didn't say there's anything wrong.

What I said is that casting in commercials the last 5 years, and 5-6 months especially, is vastly more inclusive.

True, but I don’t hear Dylan singing when I watch this.

Don’t ask me why but I watched 20 minutes of the my pillow guy’s latest infomercial (for a mattress cover) and it had 10 different couples, about a half-dozen singles, and about 50 people in the “studio audience” and zero people of color. 100 percent white. In 2020.

Seems pretty "on brand" for the MyPillow guy, though.

Some of his commercials 2-3 years ago straddled the line of "you know he tried banging that chick" ...

It was a nice way to ease out of Orange is the New Black (which also lost steam after a couple of seasons). Damn Netflix cancels a lot of shows after two or three seasons. Used to watch a ton of shows, but now I'm down to the final season(s) of Grace and Frankie, the Kominski Method, Peaky Blinders, Ozark, Narcos and Criminal. I think GLOW was the most recent show they launched that I watched. Gonna be a few years for Mindhunters.

Lost in the shuffle because they announced it the same day as the "Glow" cancellation, but "Teenage Bounty Hunters" got the axe as well: ‘Teenage Bounty Hunters’ Canceled By Netflix After One Season – Deadline - I'll stump for the show again, although annoyingly, it now ends on a cliffhanger. Maybe my expectations were just too low, but it was my biggest pleasant surprise of 2020. It's kind of like an R-rated version of "Veronica Mars" and "Gilmore Girls." (Don't watch it with any kids in the room.)
