Great ad. At least 75% of the people in that ad fall into groups that Trumpists hate and want to eliminate from the country.

Because GOP-appointed justices veer left over time much more often than the other way around. It's a well-known observance.

So, Covid Barrett and Kavanaugh might be a little left of the John Birch Society by 2050?

Trading Arizona and North Carolina for Ohio is not a winning deal for the GOP — both short- and long-term.

I don't know if GOP judges get more liberal. John Paul Stevens thought he had not changed but that the other Republicans who came on to the court after him were more conservative than their predecessors. Stevens was born in 1920 and Kennedy in 1936 and they came of age at a time when Republicans generally believed in a powerful central government.

Post 1964 when the Republicans in their platform stopped supporting civil rights and started emphasizing states rights and also after Roe versus Wade, which was decided by a bunch of Eisenhower Republicans, the party became far more conservative. And that influenced the young conservative lawyers that are now becoming Supreme Court judges.
