    Just a guess. So take it for what it's worth.

    CNN goes to the Trump campaign and says we want to have someone on to discuss X, Y and Z. From CNN's perspective, they want to cover both campaigns, equal time and all of that.

    Someone in the campaign makes the genius decision to send Lara Trump instead of someone less ridiculous, and Jake Tapper says, "OK, if that is what you are going to send to my show, glad to have at her."

    Jake Tapper posted a list of like 15 administration officials they asked for today, including Fauci, Birx, three or four cabinet secretaries, even Ivanka. White House refused all those requests. Lara Trump was all they could get.
