Tony Dorsett is one, I think. Trying to think of the other ...

That is correct. Herschel Walker and Tony Dorsett are two of the three. One to go.

Which two pitchers combined for the most wins in MLB history (440) while playing together on the same team?

The obvious guess would be some combination of Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz.
I'll go with Maddux and Glavine. They probably picked up more wins when Smoltz had his stint as a closer.

Paying this one off, the three are Herschel Walker, Tony Dorsett and Bobby Mitchell.

Or could it be a trick question where one guy has the bulk of the wins, like Walter Johnson and a Senator teammate?

Nope. They played together for 12 years. One won 193 in that span, the other 247. Both are in the Hall of Fame.

Glavine and Maddux were teammates from 1993-2002. Maddux won 178, Glavine 169.

Thinking out loud, not looking up anything:

Koufax-Drysdale -- Koufax didn't have that many wins since he retired because of injury.
    Seaver-Koosman -- Could be.
    Spahn-Burdette -- Maybe.
Morris-McLain -- No, ages are way off.

    That's all I got.

This duo also combined to win eight World Series games as teammates. So they actually won 248 games combined.

    Marquard and Mathewson?

Marquard (103) and Mathewson (195) combined for 298 wins as teammates from 1908-15.

The answer is Eddie Plank (247) and Chief Bender (193), teammates on the Philadelphia A's from 1903-14. They both jumped to the Federal League in 1915 after no one claimed them after they were put on waivers by Connie Mack.

Add in rube Waddell, another hofer, and jack Coombs, who led the league in wins twice, and you have a contender for best staff in history.
