Someone on the Democratic side needs to say that Benjamin Frankin - Ben Franklin! - started the U.S. Postal Service, and that's it's every bit as much a part of traditional American life as anything else that came out of the Colonial era.

Why? It's 2020, not 1775. Lots of things that people may have thought made sense in 1775 have no place in 2020. If the postal service is one of them, that isn't a very compelling argument, is it?

Also, adjusted for the change in value of the dollar, if we applied the postage rates from Ben Franklin's time to today, mailing a letter (not a package) would require anywhere from a $4 to $10 stamp, depending on the distance. Would that be part of the Ben Franklin argument, too?

We can now send letters by mail thousands of miles further away much faster for a fraction of the cost, and that's the rationale for doing away with it? Nevermind that the primary reasons are that the Republicans want to screw up Dems voting by mail and that the Postmaster General has substantial financial interest in firms that compete with the post office?

you’re doing that thing where you think they actually believe in their arguments and aren’t just saying whatever they have to say to keep power.

The existence of the USPS May be something to discuss. But the values and judgment of trump and everyone associated with him lacks legitimacy, thoughtfulness, intelligence, objectivity and a Track record of success. And anyone who advocates changing the USPS, now, under these circumstances are just extremist trolls without redeeming value.
