I'll give you health care. I think America's ready on that front. I know I am.

Most Americans have no idea what climate change is about, what the Green New Deal would entail or cost. "Sure, yeah, reduce greenhouse gas emissions" is a fine answer for most people. And thus, there it is.

Americans say "fix immigration!" too. They don't know much about it, though.

    Less illegal immigration!
    But no walls!
    And no deterrence!
Deport all the bad undocumented immigrants but none of the good ones who committed minor crimes!
    Better wages for Americans!
    But cheap goods too!

So on and so on. It's the same with climate change.

So for Democrats to make any progress, all of America needs to be a climate scientist.

Are people who want tax cuts required to be accountants and economists?

Then it would behoove us to have national conversations about those subjects so people could better understand them, and how they're interrelated. For example, the harder it becomes to grow staple crops in Central America, the more climate refugees will be trying to immigrate here. Doing nothing about climate change will cost much more, as we see every time we have to approve emergency funds after the latest natural disaster.

Instead we have one of our two major parties holding up snowballs as proof that climate change isn't real and telling people that the Green New Deal would eliminate airplanes and cows. Then for some reason the other major party feels compelled to take these arguments seriously and tack to just left of Breitbart. Because actually solving problems is for suckers when all you need to do is completely misrepresent your opponents' positions.

One thing I am confused about is how there are still some undecided out there.

    You either hate the motherfucker
    or;
You either like the piece of shit

Half of the the Republican base will calmly and with conviction tell you God won’t allow the earth to be destroyed before they are in heaven, the earth has been given to us to pillage and plunder and conservation is a socialist ploy.

You can’t argue facts with that. You can’t educate that. It’s useless.

    They’re gone.

Right, but that's a clear minority of the people in this country and yet we allow them to dominate the conversation. Same with illegal immigration. It's such a big issue in this country not because of its effects but because it's a reliable cudgel for the GOP.

Then you talk on their level and tell them that they’re not going to heaven anyways because they are wearing two different fabrics which is considered unclean in their holy book, so they might as well try to preserve the planet they are on.

We went 62 years between Nos. 12 and 13 (and had to fight a war to do it, which also led to Nos. 14-15) and another 40 years between Nos. 15 and 16.
