LaRussa's tenure in Arizona was a disaster, but the White Sox are good right now anyway. As long as they keep him out of player personnel decisions, I think the move could "work" anyway. Unlike other sports, I think baseball managers are either "average" or "actively awful," and I think he's more in the former category than the latter.

    I love Baseball Reference.

    1975 Reds
    22 complete games
    1.62 pitching changes per game.
    663 Ks.

    2019 Reds
    0 complete games
    3.395 pitching changes per game
    1552 Ks

Actually, back then they had the pitcher batting in the odd-numbered years' WS and the DH in the even numbered years and in both instances would play by those rules for the entire series. I think it was 1985 Series when that started going with the DH in AL parks and without the DH in NL parks.

I once heard the World Series DH thing described as a "Solomonic" compromise, but I found myself thinking, "It took you guys 10 years to figure that out?"

Liebrandt's delivery kind of looks like the pitching equivalent of Elaine dancing.

NOW PLAYING IN MY FRIDGE: KERSHAW'S WICKED CURVE GRAPEFRUIT WHEAT ALE!

A friend of my wife was kind enough to gift me a couple of cans of this collectible (due to the "World Series Champs" date stamp) brew.
I haven't tried it yet, and I'm not much of a beer hound but will crack it open and share results.

People who put grapefruit in beer are the real criminals

Fruit juice brewed into beer is different from those people who put a slice of fruit into the neck of their beer bottle, unless there are in fact a bazillion flies swirling about.
