I don't want to start a thread that becomes political, so what was your first Presidential election voting experience like?

I was a freshman in the dorms at Fresno State in 1976, having just turned 18. The booths were set up in the dining hall, I believe. I voted for Ford but respected both candidates. Had to really research the rest of the ballot, not having any idea who or what was important in Fresno County. (Guess I could have asked for a Contra Costa absentee ballot, but that never crossed my mind.)

Between leaving home for school and getting a checking account and a car, that was another "adult" moment added to the list.

EDIT: Cool piece of trivia from 1976, according to Wikipedia:
    • This election marks the only time in U.S. history that the two major candidates and their running mates would all win their respective party's nomination for President and lose, coming second in the general election: Ford in 1976, Carter in 1980, Mondale in 1984 and Dole in 1996.

The Trump cotton candy face is kind of funny. The Jim Belushi's brother one is just fucking wrong.

I was in the Navy and voted absentee in 1992. I missed '88 by a year, so, come to think of it, those of us born in 1971 missed the benefits of the 26th amendment, passed that year, and didn't get to vote for POTUS until we were 21. I was robbed!

I just turned 17 in '88 so had to wait till '92 and voted for Bubba. No real memories of it.

A buddy just texted me. When he was voting, the precinct workers made two people wearing Trump masks leave.
    Ha HA!

Is the lack of Mar-A-Lago as the victory party location a sign the campaign knows something?

I don't remember a whole lot about 1992, but I know I voted at a public library in my college town. And it did not take long at all.

I went to an out-of-state university, so I voted absentee.

It was 1996, and it being my first election, I did plenty of research. Clinton/Gore vs. Dole/Kemp. The Dole/Kemp plan to increase revenues by cutting taxes just didn't add up. It was part of my thorough introduction to the Laffer curve. I muttered, "On what planet does the math on this compute?" And since the GOP remains wedded to these "voodoo economics," I've never voted for a Republican for a race beyond city council.

I was an intern at my first paper and in my junior year of college in 2004. I drove home to vote in someone's garage. It was fun. The older people were nice to me and I felt like I was doing my part. I think I remember who was running for mayor of my town and who I voted for. But my biggest memory I think was the first election night pizza. That was cool.
