SRL was the goldenboy of boxing then and he drew the biggest numbers so the puppetmasters (mafia) wanted SRL to win so they could keep making money off of him. Yes for sure Hearns was robbed in the SRL rematch. And Lalonde probably threw the fight for the payday - he was paid millions, when he was lucky to get decent six figures for any other fight at 175. SRL totally rigged the field in his favor for that fight, even lowering the weight of 175 to grab Lalonde's title. Leonard was that big back then to rig everthing for his favor and to make demands. Just like Mayweather and his handlers (Haymon, Espinoza, etc) did most recently. You can be sure Mayweather was a totally rigged protected fraud. Good fighter but he was protected from ever losing. The big money was behind him, and able to buy off every opponent.

Plus the gambling aspect. Most money was bet on Hagler, so when the mafia knows they have the winner (underdog), it means bigger profits. Boxing is a very filthy business. I know for a fact Liston threw both Clay fights. There are So many more too.

Lots of good stuff. About the current product and historic debates/breakdowns.

Watched Davis - Santa Cruz again last night.

    That left.

Just a perfect punch. Swell fight.

The Inoue fight likewise was pretty good - but nothing he does going forward will ever equal the struggle and beauty and catharsis of that Donaire fight.

Agree with my friends here that The Monster moves to the top of the P4P list.

    Canelo and Kovalev?

Compare that body shot to the one Alexander Flores took from Luis Ortiz on Saturday night on his way into the tank.

Inoue is awesome, I'd have him as the top P4P list too. I am not sure how you beat him. You need to get on top of him, make him back up, but he can turn any fight with one punch. The Donaire fight was epic, I am not sure I saw one clinch in that fight.

Kovalev dove for Canelo. Kovalev is old now, about 39, had no other big payday options, has two women to pay off for domestic abuse (millions). So he was compromised. Oscar rigged Kovalev to dive for a career high payday, with no rematch clause. Kovalev took the deal and played soft the whole fight and then dove for Canelo. As obvious as any dive in modern history if you have any sense how the biz operates.

If Canelo was authentic, he would have challenged Beterbiev to unify after the dive but of course Beterbiev is not compromised (yet) and won't dive for the franchise.

Re Davis vs Cruz. Sometimes dives come in the form of being paid to eat a real punch. There is no way in the world Floyd and Haymon are going to let their fraud franchise hope Davis lose to anyone for years. Davis is a rigged fraud, just like his daddy Mayweather.

Has there ever been a fight that's been completely on the level?

    Not even Cain vs Abel

Yes of course, the majority are. But an awful lot are not unrigged.

Some real authentic super fights with no corruption...
Duran vs Leonard 1, Hagler vs Hearns, Leonard vs Hearns 1, Lewis vs Tyson (but the ref was for Tyson, if he put Lennox down it was going to be a quick stoppage), Klitschko vs Joshua, Foreman vs Lyle, Sanchez vs Gomez, Hopkins vs Trinidad, Jones vs Tarver 2, Ali vs Frazier, so many.

Terence Crawford is probably the best in the world right now in boxing.
