Whatever happened to Pete Hoeksema? Or Guy Vander Jagt? (I'm going back a few years in West Michigan politics here). Used to live in Cadillac, and those two were typical of the congressmen from western Michigan.

That's interesting about Kent County going blue in 2020. The Traverse City area always had a sprinkling of outdoorsy hippie types, but not near enough to counter the Dutch Reformed vote. Actually, T.C. and the northern lower peninsula was thrown in with the U.P. in one huge congressional district, I believe.

That headline is the best possible example of how totally befucked we are as a society.

Fascinated by the posturing all around. Watching Fox News like it's Russian state TV during an internal putsch. I see a lot of Bushies out there Ari, Rove, W. congratulating Biden, why do I think Mary Cheney is behind all of this. Yes, the more ridiculous you build up Trump to "fight" the more ridiculous he (and all the rest of his allies) will look when its clear he lost diminishing him in the eyes of his people. Honestly, he could own the party for the next four years. He will eventually walk away, like he did from his casinos, his airlines and other failures and say he wants to spend more time with his money. The real question is if he ever does another rally with the unwashed masses.

Pete Hoekstra, who bounced Vander Jagt, left Congress in at the 2010 election to make a failed bid for governor of Michigan and then Stabenow's Senate seat. Trump named him Ambassador to the Netherlands in 2018. That's the 2nd district, which is represented by a stereotypical Dutch Reformed right-winger (Bill Huizenga) and is more of the lakeshore, Muskegon, Holland/Zeeland and some of the southern GR suburbs. The city of GR is in the 3rd, which is basically Kent County minus the southern suburbs, plus Barry, Ionia and Calhoun counties.

The 1st, which is now solidly red (their carpetbagger rep won by 20-plus points) extends all the way down to Houghton Lake and a little bit down the Lake Michigan shoreline as far as about Ludington.

Thanks for the update. And let's face it, Bart Stupak was Republican in everything but name.

The unwashed -- or unmasked -- masses may dwindle by sheer force of nature. Specifically that force of nature that they've been ignoring for months.
