I mentioned this over in the covid topic, but, is this how bad things have gotten, that we're fighting about which president gets credit for it? We're talking about saving millions of lives here.

 

Yes and no. He was anti-abortion, but even he wouldn't have survived this shift. In fact, his vote to approve Obamacare for the price of a relatively meaningless anti-abortion amendment probably ended his career. He retired in 2010 rather than get pushed out. They got three terms of a retired doctor from Iron River. Their current rep is a retired Marine Corps general who landed in Watersmeet of all places.

 

Trump will do rallies in the short term while refusing to concede. Partly out of an ego stroke he feels likes he deserves, partly to keep his base fired up should he mount another campaign in 2024 ... and mostly to launder the continuing contributions into his, uh, "campaign fund."

I know he owns it - but with his showing it isn't like those he carried across the goal line (seriously I've never heard of a losing candidate with coattails) won't be able to "move on" and position themselves or the party without his sayso.
