Lyrics, vocals and instruments meld together perfectly.

    Excellent choice.

Perhaps the hookiest hook in the history of soul-funk music. Drum, bass, guitar, Clavinet, big brass flourish. Got it as a single as a Christmas present in 1971.

Dave Edmunds has some success recording “From Small Things”, written by Springsteen.

I believe that when Bruce plays in Cardiff he opens with it as a tip of the cap.

I wore the crap out of "Field Day." Guy just understands how to write catchy pop melodies. How he didn't make it bigger is a mystery.

The show was hokey, but the musicanship was top-rate. Susan Dey was a 6.

Bust all you want on them for their disco phase, but this was a kick-ass pop song.

Here's a barely broke the top 40 one-hit wonder but always loved the lyrics to this story song.

The most Beach Boys-sounding song ever recorded by British session musicians.

I believe lead Tony Burrows had four hit songs in the 1970s with four "session" bands: Edison Lighthouse, White Plains, Brotherhood of Man and The First Class.

Believe it or not, you're not the only one on the board who remembers that song! Finally figured out tonight that "Annette Funicello and some guy goin' steady" was what he rhymed with "We got the munchies and I made some spaghetti."

    Excellent choice.

The interesting part, IMO, is that the instrumental bridge isn't 4/4. I believe it's 7/4.

Genesis' "Turn It On Again" is mostly in 13/8.

The common bond is the atypical meter - especially for tracks that chart. Yet, they charted and sounded great. But trying to dance to it might cross up more than a few feet.

I see your Beach Baby and Raise with this.
Recorded for some long-forgotten movie, slowly became a hit.
