Unless you are in the retirement window, I've never heard of a severance package from a government job. There may be, but I've never heard of it.

I did a quick check. The only news site that has posted this story is Fox. CNN, the three major networks, AP, hell, nothing on Google News. Which tells you something. Its a nothing burger.

 

If I had to make a guess, they're shredding records and making files disappear. I'm not sure how well that will work in the computer age. OTOH, Trump and his staff has ignored the Presidential Records Act all through his time in office. I suspect that documentation on most of his worst actions will be hard to find.

There's lots of contenders for that title. and I'm not sure he makes the top 5, but I agree he's very dumb.

The thing that worries me, as John Bolton said, Republicans will need to walk this back and right now they aren't going to do that. Now if the proud boys riot and start killing people, will they then? Some will but some won't.

There's people on the Republican side, for a variety of reasons, who are actively pursuing a disaster and that's when it gets scary.

The flipside is that how Biden handles that disaster, it might come with a mandate from the American people that republicans aren't fit to govern, but that's just a hope.
