I was surprised Pelosi was re-elected to lead the Dems again - she's said this is her last two years in any event - since she's been in leadership she's probably been more valuable to the right to run against than the Dems to run "with." They lost the seat in Utah last night. She should really tell ALL 80-year old members in the House in safe districts to plan on this being their last term. The "conventional wisdom" has always been that when turnout is high, Dems win - that wasn't the case downballot this year and the party needs a re-think. No - I don't think the House is going to be pushing for "defunding police" at all - they never were. But their lack of an alternative strong message - when the public DOES support climate science, universal health care (whatever form) and higher wages is baffling.

Nobody ever said they’d thought things through.

The Trump team has prepared legally required transition memos describing policy challenges, but there are no discussions about actions they could take or pause. Instead, the White House is barreling ahead. A second official tells CNN their goal is to set so many fires that it will be hard for the Biden administration to put them all out.

It's a strategy that radically breaks with past practice, could raise national security risks and will surely compound challenges for the Biden team -- but it could also backfire. Analysts and people close to the Biden transition argue the Trump team may act so aggressively that reversing some of its steps will earn Biden easy goodwill points and negotiating power with adversaries.

Biden already has relationships with these countries. Trump can do all the shit he wants. They all know it’s over soon.

Your first sentence is a misperception. Republicans ALWAYS demonize a Democratic Speaker. They did it to Tip O'Neill. They did it to Tom Foley for God's sake. Republicans ALWAYS demonize women Democratic leaders. See Clinton, Hillary. Pelosi is not an effective spokesperson for a national party. But she has been a highly effective leader of the House caucus both in the majority and minority. She is, in short, a superb cat herder. Also, the Democrats all DID campaign on health care and higher wages. But in this election, folks on neither side were interested in positive agendas or indeed in agendas at all.

The purge is going to be ugly. We're expecting Trump to hand out pardons like Oprah Winfrey, but he's thrown countless numbers of lackeys and "associates" under the bus before. I'll bet he covers his very large, white butt -- and takes care of "the family" -- before Inauguration Day, but hangs everyone else out to dry.

I fully expect The Donald to wind up just like Al Capone, doing time for tax evasion.

And then the Department of Justice will have some interesting things to chat about with a whole lot of people who assume they'll just blend back in with the rented furniture after tearing up the hotel room like The Who after a bender for the past four years.

Conspiracy gets you five years in federal. Sedition will get you up to 20 . Treason? Well, let's just start building the gallows around the Rose Garden, shall we? The DOJ has plenty of evidence, since everyone in this administration seems to have the gift of gab.
