Those are a couple of great points. People forget how instrumental he was to the beginning of the MCU. Plenty of younger fans know he played Happy Hogan, but they don't realize he directed Iron Man. Robert Downey, Jr. is amazing and deserves the credit he gets for helping to launch the MCU, but Favreau was a huge part of the start as well.

The Mandalorian stands on its own, while at the same time, weaving in characters and plot points from all over Star Wars. You can just enjoy the characters and the stories, or you can dive into the history when characters like Bo Katan show up.

I put this on the wrong thread.

HEY MANDO does often feel like a video game with its setup and "quests" - that was the biggest complaint my wife had with it, before she stopped watching, haha.

Chapter 13 is streaming and spoilers are everywhere. I already stumbled upon one.

Ok, so I know “mando” works in the outer rim and they really aren’t part of regular society, but how has he not run into one person who has said, “dude, go find Luke Skywalker. Pretty sure he is a Jedi.” I mean, Luke is a pretty big deal in the galaxy.

I imagine there is a lot of geeking out over this last episode.

From the “Assorted Musings” section of io9’s review of this episode (spoilers at the link, obv):
    • Are you ready for the inevitable, incredibly stupid fandom war that’s going to break out between people who will continue to casually call Grogu “Baby Yoda,” those who are insistent that now his name is known we must call him Grogu at all times, and then the third faction attempting to still use “the Child” as a middle ground? It’s Star Wars. People will complain about this.
Yep, that’s definitely gonna happen. Is probably already happening, but I’m intentionally not looking for it.

No doubt, but the best moments don't rely on that at all. Even if you don't know the character, the opening sequence is excellent. The reaction of The Child when he hears that one word from Mando is so damn cute. Seriously, just the sounds he makes are very well done.

This has already begun in my house between Spike Jr. and my wife. LOL

I think one thing that Star Wars has going for it is that it is a space western, and it doesn't seem like there is a good, galaxy-wide sort of communications network. Like, people know that the Empire has fallen - the Death Star exploding is the kind of thing that would get around by word of mouth - but even by the time of A New Hope, most people either think the Jedi are a fairy tale or dead, and there's roughly 5 to 10 of them still around. The now non-canon books and Mandalorian also do a better deal than the new trilogy of getting across that while the Empire's central leadership has fallen, it essentially means that each general on a world is now basically a warlord. (That being said - You'd think some of the more connected characters, like Carl Weathers' bounty hunter guildmaster, would be able to offer some more direction.)
