With the understanding that none of them are really great, Aetna is in the Seventh Circle of Hell. It didn't earn that reputation overnight.

My sister works as the accountant/budget person at a large university controlled health system. She works with a group that are the diabetes specialists. People are referred to them and they charge $550 or so for the initial consultation which insurance companies cover. Their scam is that they charge $200 extra for the analysis.

This is not covered by insurance but the patients go out of pocket. My sister says that the institute is swimming in money but they do it because they can.

I gotta go in for this fun next Monday, for the second time. (I'm actually a few years overdue -- because my dad had colon cancer, I'm supposed to go like every three years or five years or something, but, well, I just didn't have the time.) I remember asking the nurse if I needed anything else for the prep and she said, "Nope. Just this stuff, a book and a candle."

Just had a hip replacement in September. The surgeon and I both initialized the area to be operated on that morning, and I got to keep the Sharpie as a souvenir. On my previous one (same surgeon, other hip), he wrote "no" on the (then) healthy hip.
