I was a spare part for the Big Red Machine and a slick-fielding, nerd-stat-friendly first baseman who hit .301 my rookie season of 1973 and never topped it over a 15-year career. Who am I?

To be fair, a "slick-fielding" first baseman for the Big Red Machine narrowed it down considerably.

From 1969 to 1972, four men with the same first and last name were playing professional baseball, football, basketball and hockey. What is that name?

I will start the contest with Ed Williams.

Nope, but yeah, it’s a common name.

And doing more research, it looks like there has only been one Ed Williams in MLB history, Eddie Williams who played 1B and 3B from 86-98.

I was thinking Billy Smith, but he didn't start in the NHL until 1972.

I know it's not Eric Nesterenko or Randy Wyrozub.

Gene Washington? I know there were two of them in the NFL.

And they were both receivers, but no.

I started looking up names out of curiosity. I found a Jim Johnson who played mlb, nfl and nhl...no nba. This is obscure

Here's a hint, one is in the Hall of Fame and another was an MVP.
