As true as this is, and as desirable as any number of other, worthier, more practical approaches might have been, the Covid messaging battle was over in mid-April.

A large, large percentage of Trump voters spent the year saying, "Covid is a democrat hoax to make the President look bad and it'll be gone right after the election," and the President never, ever, ever said "Look - it's not a Democrat hoax."
