I'd love to see the whole field view of that play. I wonder if they were setting up the hail mary to the right side to draw most of the defense to that side, and then got Ruggs in courtesy single coverage on the left.
It's terrible defense either way by the Jets, but I'm curious if it was a designed play for the Raiders. I've always wanted to see a team try that.

At that point in the game who else does it point to?

Nantz and Romo continuing the "not Wentz's fault " narrative.
How many media dicks has Wentz sucked?

Jameis Winston didn't get 1/50th of this benefit of the doubt during his shit season a year ago

The guy who called an all out blitz leaving a corner one-on-one with the fastest receiver on the Raiders with no safety help over the top? With 13 seconds left and up by 4, your biggest concern is the end zone. That's it. The Jets called a defense that let the Raiders to get behind the defense and score. Rush 3, put two guys in the goal line and keep everything in front of you and you win the game.

I just don’t see how tanking benefits a coaching staff that will not be back. And if you’re tanking, why do you put yourself in the positions it’s that close?

All of them. But to be fair, none are really that big.

Greggg Williams is dead coach walking. He isn't designing a tanking play.

And for fuck's sake, if tanking was the goal, they are going to wait til 20 seconds left?
If you were going to tank, it'd be game on from the kickoff.

Definitely. Lucky for the Raiders, though.

They were definitely tanking on that play?

NBA teams tank by sitting key players.

You don't tank by allowing a long td with 30 seconds to go.

    Lets move on

Ok so the thinking on that play is pressure had worked against Carr so let's pressure again to get him off his timing. Ok. Evidence of not tanking.

But calling that play is predicated on the corner staying stride-for-stride with the receiver if the pressure doesn't get home with no help over the top in case that receiver gets behind the defense. You think you can do it, good on ya. But with 13 seconds on the clock, your only goal is to force the Raiders to throw to the middle of the field and stay out of the end zone. Dropping people in coverage to force receivers inside and having max help over the top means the Raiders have max two plays to win the game. Likely only one. So pressure is working but if it doesn't, you lose. Going prevent takes the pressure off of you and on the Raiders who are fighting the clock and the score.

    Why call that play?

As for guys who are not coming back argument, getting one win doesn't help that. Losing means the Jets are still in line for a better pick for those who stay.

I didn't say they threw the game from the get go, but in a moment when you call a simple play to win the game, they went away from it.
