This year's just different. I won't blame any college player who opts out of an extra game if that means an extra game that can do nothing for the player's draft status but involves risk of injury and/or COVID. The bowls this year are nothing more than quick in-and-out deals that further slam home the point that this is season is not about rewards or special experiences but about debt mitigation. Wouldn't be all that enticing to me.

No different than any other year.

Agreed. Brought the excitement when needed and totally professional. Her color guy (Jay Feely) was pretty useless (a kicker, really?) but I'm glad she got a good game to work with. People like her deserve to work on a regular basis, and maybe fewer Dick Stockton games, huh?

To use the lexicon of the Men in Blazers, I'll say that was "match-fixey." I won't retrace the argument here. In terms of legitimacy, one thing I read was that some teams will send the house in those situations, but they normally use the blitz to push the thrower toward his non-throwing side. In this case, the Jets came right up the gut. But as someone who used Derek Carr as a bye-week pickup in a must-win FFL game, I'm not going to cry about it.

Wentz doesn't have to, at least not to this point. He's white, cheerful and from "Real America." I work at a Forum paper and I am only half-joking that I feel worried about my job when I print stories that describe how badly he's sucked this year. The Fargo area TV stations sometimes deliberately take Eagles games because he's their Great White Hope.

I think this was covered but I believe the principle is that, because this would have been an ordinarily scheduled Sunday 1 p.m. game, the only audience that gets it tomorrow is the audience that would have gotten it ordinarily. That said, I don't know how places like Chicago, Detroit and MSP are getting this game. Most of those markets got Fox games from their home teams on Sunday. Maybe something to do with the blackout rule, or maybe those stations are Fox O&O's?

When the sport "rewards" you with a better draft slot than just increasing your shot in a lottery, once you get past a certain point there is no reason to want your team to win. After starting 0-10, why would Jets fans want to get to 6-10 and then pick 11th?

By not playing today, the Cowboys moved from the No. 3 pick to No. 5.

Don’t worry. Their chance to get that pick back is coming.

I'm curious to see what Lamar Jackson will look like with no practice time before tomorrow night's game. Weren't the Ravens worried about guys getting hurt under those circumstances? Supposedly, Jackson will be activated from the COVID list to start the game. I'm not sure if he was going to be activated and able to get in a work out today or not.

Oh get over it. Steelers won. They're going to play a bad football team today and will likely win. Move on.

As mentioned elsewhere in the thread... I think the kind of tanking that goes on in the NFL is, at best, somewhat soft and nebulous. Like if you're on a playoff team and you have a pulled hammy, you're probably trying your best to rehab or to play hurt. If you're on the Jets, you probably don't want that game tape of you getting burnt while injured, and you're shutting it down. And a guy like Darnold doesn't want to look completely shot, if he wants to be considered as a low level starter or high quality back-up, whether he's hitting FA or being traded by the Jets.

At the management level, I can see a GM with a stable job situation just keeping the coaches to lose more games, but Gase and Williams don't really have an incentive to lose games - Both might be near the end of the line at finding similar positions in the future, although yeah, it's the NFL, so both will probably end up positions coaches next year, and not completely out.

Let's be honest, the NFL has been indoctrinating our young people into making SOCIALISM exciting and glamourous. Are you a miserable failure? Congratulations! We'll give you the first choice in starting over. AND we'll give you an easier schedule than the other teams, because we don't want you to get hurt. And owners? How does guaranteed basic income of more than $250m a year sound? Before you even sell a single ticket! And everyone gets the same amount because we want to be fair.

Perhaps one of these Spring Leagues should make a CAPITALIST football league where if you make more money, you can spend it however you want. Sign as many of the top players as you want - you know, like college football. You want a better draft position and an easier schedule - PULL YOURSELVES UP FROM YOUR BOOTSTRAPS SON!!! That's what made AMERICA Great!!!

If the WTF somehow sees this coaching staff as the answer and Snyder sees the progress being made, there is hope in Washington. Legit hope.
