I thought that was a below average episode for the most part. They seem like they're trying too hard.

They only had a month to come up with new material. Can't believe it was only Bateman's second time hosting - the monkey bit was funny. Hell, I even liked sketch involving the singer.

I kind of thought it was better than the low average set for this year, but maybe I was just happy that there was no Biden or Trump. The "Stan/Santa" skit, the guilt trip parents (and especially Kenan as an actually supportive dad), and a snappy Update were my favorites.

Heidi Gartner's bit on Weekend Update was funny - American Beauty "You can't DO that Michael!" "Kevin Spacey?" "No - the plastic BAGS!"

    Update is usually good

My favorite part of the show, but I'd like to see it five minutes longer. The characters who come on to WU are very hit and miss.

I usually turn the channel after Weekend Update.

The YouTube star is definitely the best recurring character they've had in the last 2-3 years.

"Michael, you only work 10 minutes a week!"

I like Che’s “neighbor” that Cecily plays. And Yang’s ever-changing Chinese official. And most of Davidson’s appearances.

But, really, more funny news bits, please.

… and the E Street Band.

Really hope the open is Trump stumbling into his WH Christmas party with the news about SCOTUS and proceeding into a long, incredibly awkward pity party/premature Airing of Grievances.

Loved Pete's "Stan" parody and the cameo from Eminem himself.[/QUOTE]

I actually logged in to complain about that “Stan” parody, and say that, IMO, it serves as proof that Pete Davidson is an unfunny hack.
How was that parody comedy? He simply changed the words to a popular song. Nothing about that was funny. I honestly think a college kid could’ve written that sketch.
As a lifelong SNL fan, it just bothered me that that Stan parody didn’t even seem like an attempt to be funny. It seemed like a (lame, IMO) attempt to be cool...

It's just the same thing that Weird Al has done to have been successful for 40 years -- changing lyrics to popular songs is classic parody.

About this week: just give me a whole episode of Melissa and Chloe doing impressions. Melissa's Dolly was SPOT ON.

And where the heck have been Kenan Thompson and Chris Redd? There's definitely been an effect on the show without them. Makes me wonder if there's been a mini outbreak among the cast, because I didn't remember seeing Alex Moffatt through Update, and he's usually a regular in air time.
