He has absolutely no standing in this case. It's a state on state dispute. That's why Trumpy state AG's can file amicus briefs. Trump or his campaign can file anything they want with the court, but the court won't even look at it.

 

That's ok. He's stated publicly that he's joining, and it seems a safe bet that won't be the last we hear from him about it. When this attempt gets quashed he loses again, and you can bet that he won't have sense enough to sulk quietly. He'll throw a duckfit on Twitter, and I'm going to laugh.

 

This case is really just a statement from the national Republican party to the court that "six of you are Republicans and you must vote for what we want no matter what the Constitution says or doesn't say." It isn't just asking those six to destroy the credibility of their institution, it's asking them to surrender its power and their individual power, to the Party and the Supreme Leader. I wouldn't put it past them, but that's an awfully big demand.
