How's he gonna pack the court with at best a 50-50 Senate? That'd take a way bigger Democratic majority AND a Court decision so outrageous as to make it a priority for said majority.

 

Repudiating anything the President does puts one at risk in a GOP primary.

You can't win the nomination for Senate or House if 40 percent of your party's voters thinks you didn't do enough to stop Democrats from stealing the election from President Trump.

 

Not sure how productive it is to keep talking about the rules when it's clear the rules don't mean anything.

If nothing else, Trump proved that the 'guardrails' on this form of government are entirely imaginary. A parliamentary fiction we all agree upon. Until we don't.

A dishonorable person can - and Trump will - do whatever he thinks he can get away with.

The Democrats won't have the power to pack the court, but they can certainly make some changes while the sun shines, even with McConnell in the way.

Breyer's 82. Thomas is 72. Alito is 70. There's a very good chance two, maybe three justices retire or die before 2024. That gives Biden everything he needs to appoint his own young jurists to counter the Three Stooges. While Garland Merrick's a fine choice, the Dems need to also think young and healthy.

If there's an opening, put someone on the bench without a senate hearing and force McConnell's hand. What do you have to lose now?

 

This whole charade is all about posturing for the electorate. Because the GOP has completely given up on platform, you have to run based on the personality, which means kowtowing to Trump (and 72 million stupid people) until the wind shifts. That may not happen for quite some time, so you've got to play the long game if you're a career Repub. Even if it means cutting off your cajones.

There’s nothing in the Constitution about either house of Congress choosing to acknowledge (or not) the Electoral College vote. The electors’ ballots are opened in the presence of both houses of Congress, those votes are counted and whomever has more votes wins the Yahtzee game.

Yeah.

If you're a Congressman in a red state, there's no risk to saying "Oh for sure George Soros used his company Dominion to steal votes for Joe Biden."

But there's a huge risk to saying, "Hey maybe the President just lost because the other guy had more votes."
