66 percent capacity. But nobody is checking to enforce it. Based on parking lots, many places are exceeding it.

It’s so frustrating because Asa is term limited. He could be doing what medical professionals suggest. But he’s got his eye on a Senate seat, so he’s got to play the game.

    The tweet is incorrect.

Redfield referenced Pearl Harbor and 9/11 and is clearly trying to find some sort of daily comparison sufficient to rouse the public.

In a national address in March, Macron used the phrase 'we are at war' six times.

Merkel said it was Germany's greatest challenge since the Second World War.

Comparisons like this are part of language and persuasion and debate.

I think the use of war as a word is more understandable. We are at war with a virus.

Comparing death toll counts is manipulative.

I pointed this out a few months ago when, as expected, someone on here eagerly posted some story about "excess deaths in Sweden on pace for highest rate in 150 years!"

That's GOOD news. It means Sweden hasn't had crap happing to it in a LONG time. Same for America.

Covid excess death rate in Russia, however, isn't even coming close to the excess deaths seen during the destitute Yeltsin years (300K-500K excess per year during the 1990s), when we were lying about how wonderful things were over there.

Russian mortality trends for 1991-2001: analysis by cause and region

People in this country just are not capable of appreciating how ridiculously well they have it --- and have had it.

What were they dying of in the Yeltsin age?

The other nutty thing is they only get paid $100 ... each year. They're only supposed to be in session for 45 days a year.

The information isn't much different, if any.

But we still have COVID deniers. We still have people who have bought into the Fox News/Tangerine Tantrum BS that it is nothing but a hoax.

This helps hammer home that their alternative reality is wrong, that what's going on in these hospital and COVID units is real. Not to mention that it gives some front-line people who are putting their butts on the line daily an outlet. Goodness knows we owe all of them a lot more than that.

It's informative. It sheds light on the situation. So exactly what is wrong here?
