Question: who is the most mediocre team in MLB history? Answer: looks like the angels.

Based on @3_Octave_Fart’s post: which current mlb team has the all-time worst winning percentage?

I remember about 2014-2015 they actually went above .500 all-time for the first time since their inaugural game in 1961, but that's gotten wiped out by the five straight losing seasons since.
The team's had a lot of losing seasons, but I don't think they've had any where they were historically bad, like, for instance, the 1988 Orioles or the 2003 Tigers. In fact, I don't think they've ever lost 100 games in a season. Small consolation, I know.

My first thought was Padres but I’ll guess Phillies.

That's tough. I would also guess Phillies, who have been dogcrap for large patches of their long long history.

mcincal, the Autrys would never let them get that bad. Nor would Arte nor Disney. Ten division titles in 60 years isn't all that good though for a club that historically tries to compete.

I'd guess the Padres. That's an expansion team that's has little bits of success in between large stretches of blah.

It’s the Padres, but the Marlins are right there.

And the Phillies are worst of the Original 16, according to BB-Ref.

I was surprised/not surprised to see White Sox, Indians and Senators/Twins have the fewest AL pennants of the original eight, tied with six. Yankees have 40 and the second-place team was .... ?

Winner! That franchise has been great or awful in most seasons. Very rarely did Connie field mediocrity. And Charlie O. followed suit.

Followed by the Red Sox, Tigers and Browns/Orioles, in no particular order that I can remember. :)
