I suspect that if they had known all along the vaccine would be this effective, they would have tested it for only the first dose. The second dose was the failsafe to make sure the immune response was as powerful as possible.

But you can't call an audible on something like this, two doses is what was tested and what needs to go out.

 

If you go through and do the math on how many people were in the trial and how long, it's almost *exactly* how many cases of bell's palsy you would expect on average.

 

Point taken. But much of the blame also has to arise from the other tribe reading 1+1 and getting 11 and then getting all worked up about it. Face it, we're looking for a fight around here. Every day, every hour, every minute, with anyone --- especially from the other tribe --- who says something not quite in lockstep with the conventional process.

 

I wonder if we'll see a huge spike in the next couple of weeks as people think "well, the vaccine's here so there's no need to worry..."

OR

I wonder if we'll see a drop in the coming weeks as people think, "I've made it this far, I'm going to double-down on protecting myself because the vaccine's around the corner..."

If the vaccine prevented transmission, I could see the former manifesting itself eventually ("It's safe out there.").

But since all it does is protect the inoculated, nobody should feel safe until Sputnik V that other vaccine is flowing in their own bloodstream.

You got that right. But it seems the Learned Republicans have trouble having their words understood. BTW, I've been Republican since 1970 and will probably continue to be if they send Trump packing and come up with somebody who is actually in it for the country, not for himself.
