Mixed feelings here about all the franchise stuff coming up. It reminds me of comics imprints who spread their narratives over multiple titles. Marvel, I'm looking at you with the Spider-beings and DC/Vertigo with the seemingly endless spinoffs of Gaiman's Sandman. After I stopped getting paid to write about comics, I started feeling like Warren Ellis about them. Why pay five dollars for nineteen pages of ugly art and little narrative progress?

You were paid to write about comics? Let's not skip over that part.

I don't have a problem with them doing that as long as it is all in movies or on one streaming service. If they taking interconnected stories and putting some on Disney+ and others on Hulu, I will be pissed.

It was for a thing that was ahead of its time and behind on the server and hosting fees.

I’ve said before that, for me, Star Wars was contained in the films. I read the Zahn novels, but never really thought of those as “canon” (largely because nobody really thought franchises that way back then). I never read the comics. I’m aware of Rebels/Clone Wars, but never watched.

That, however, has changed with The Mandalorian. If they’re going to keep pouring Star Wars shows onto Disney+, I’m in. If I have to start searching different services/media, I won’t follow those. Film/Disney+, I’m on board.

I've read a few comics, but only because I found a website to read them for free online. Some of the Darth Vader stuff is good. I've read quite a few of what are now Legends stories in novels. I like those stories a hell of a lot more than the sequel movies.

I've read two of the new books in the canon, Kenobi and one of the Aftermath books. They were fine, but I'm with you. If it's not on Disney+ or a movie, I'm out.

I was looking for shows to add to my watchlist on Hulu and noticed some Disney programming was offered there as well as D+. Dunno if they are going cross-pollinate the SW shows. Still, I am breathing into a bag because I do not have time to follow four, five, six, a jillion new Star Wars shows!

I think some of the shows with older agreements are still on there, as well as some of the ABC / traditional broadcast stuff. But most of the new, good stuff - HEY MANDO, The Muppets, Mulan - have seemed like Disney Plus only.

That is what they are doing with the Marvel stuff. The shows created for Netflix will stay there. So far, Agents of SHIELD is still there. There is some content that was created for HULU as well, but I don't think any of those are considered to be part of the MCU. Most of the content related to the MCU is slowly making its way to Disney+ as contracts with other streaming services run out.

RIP. I didn’t do any research but wonder how he felt about his voice being dubbed out in the Lucas overhaul.

I haven't watched it yet. I heard there is a holy shit moment. I'm going to have to remember to stay off this thread until I watch it this evening.
