Oscar, thank you for the thoughtful responses.

I do believe, with everything I've got. I'll always be on the roster. But I do not feel his presence in any of this that has been going on.

My hope from the outset was that talented people would deliver us from this crisis, and they have. The vaccines are a rare win for mankind.

The Black Death deleted a quarter of Europe and changed everything from education to the marketplace. It was believed to be ordained by God among some of the thinkers of the time.

I have heard others who don't wear propeller hats on a regular basis also say this has been ordained by God, for some elusive purpose we can't see and could never see.

    Uh-huh, sure, ordained. By god.

Why don't all the posters who don't believe in God, religion or anything of that nature start a different thread for themselves where they can post all their stuff? You know, instead of clogging up, poisoning and otherwise wrecking anything good about this one?

Oh, right. Because, then, none of the rest of us would look at it. Of have to.

Predestination, a big conspiracy theory among those in the founding generation.

    God as clockmaker.

Franklin was big on the notion.

You don't want to believe or be convinced. That's fine. I'm not a fuckin preacher man, not on this, anyway.

I couldn't chase the lord out of my 'orbit' if I tried. And 'believe me' I have tried.

I read threads such as this to understand people and their belief in, and allegiance to, God. The things humans need to get thru the day fascinate me.

The least the good and godly could do is accept the fact people like me will push back. Such pushback on this kind of thread is healthy.

Exchanging ideas is how society advances. WT's breathy demand was silly. This thread isn't solely (soul-ly?) owned by the believers.

    There's no 'faith' without 'doubt.'

It’s OK to be scathing about it. yab is scathing. He stands where he stands.

The verse right before it: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God;believe also in me.”

Four verses after it: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will knowmy Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

ain’t no wiggle room - at least as it relates to Christianity.
