I could be wrong about the whole thing. But the particular wrinkle we’re talking about is related
to internal logic. It doesn’t makes sense that Jesus did what he did because he thought he was *a* way.

Then why do so many people who say they have "faith," seem so unwilling to consider anything except what they want to believe?

My observation: What you are calling doubt is usually an exercise in finding ways to convince themselves of ways to cling to what they want to believe. Sincere doubt never enters into those peoples' worlds. That would entail looking at reality and questioning why they are insisting on believing things that don't empirically fit with what they can observe.

I think faith is meant to be a struggle, not a certainty.

    Many folks disagree.

my connection to my Christian roots is a bit frayed but what has always baffled me is this double talk that the Bible is the holy text, the text to end all others and one to essentially rule them all, correct? If so, how come say for example, Leviticus and his claims of homosexuality being sinful are enforced so much, but you do not see Christians protesting bowl haircuts, pig skin, tattoos or clothes with mixed fabrics? What about the multiple definitions of marriage in the bible? Why are we supposed to think that only one is correct?

Basically, why and how are people suddenly allowed to choose what is sin and what is more sinful? Why does this 'cherry-picking' sort of thing even exist?

    Jesus fulfills the ceremonial law.

As it relates to homosexuality, it falls under the same heading as adultery.

How does it relate to cherry picking the one issue you think you can answer, but ignoring all the other issues raised by that post?

Then why did god make the gays?

What do you care? You think "powerful men" wrote the Bible to subjugate the masses.

    That's what organized religion is.

Did God write the Bible with pen or pencil?
