I wonder if Pence really got the vaccine or just a placebo.

I don’t understand why the states are told to fend for themselves when it comes to PPE and tests, but it’s ok for the feds to handle logistics on this?

Wisconsin is remarkably like the country writ large.

In one corner you have places like Milwaukee, an underrated urban area but one with severe and well-publicized racism problems and Madison, a progressive enclave that is often used as a right-wing strawman.

For Republicans a durable coalition of pissed-off rural types who want to stick it to the Madison types who make them feel stupid and the Milwaukee types who call them racists and wealthy exurban types (the "WOW (Washington, Ozaukee, Waukesha) counties) who believe taxation is theft and fear Milwaukee types bleeding into their communities. Combine that with politicians like Scott Walker and Robin Vos who have weaponized those grievances and you have a very familiar tune.

Johnson has apparently promised, and walked back, a pledge to retire after two terms and has also bandied about running against Tony Evers for governor, also in 2022. That's a good sign for running him out of town, but the fact that it'll be a mid-term election doesn't bode that well. I'm guessing he's going to spend most of the first 6-9 months of the Biden Administration with his finger to the wind.
