That's such a great call. "Madden's on the field. He wants to know if it's real. It is. They say, 'Get your big butt off the field..' He does."
One thing I had forgotten: He's wearing a plain blue golf shirt. No Raiders mark. Not even their team colors.

Wasn't until 79-80-81 when coaches started dressing. Remember Malavasi wearing a Rams windbreaker. Considering they sold kids uniforms in the '70s - how much money did the NFL miss out on by not getting big into apparel before then?

No matter how many times I watch this video, I never fail to laugh. It's so well-edited.

Loved how Rozelle used to tease Jets fans - and the Jets select.....a running back....from..... Texas A&M (UGGGGHHOOOOOO!!!!) Roger Vick. I do think some NFL teams have people making calls that go against the grain because they want to show they're the smartest person in the room (see Gruden, Jon)

An interesting history of teams that trade the top pick and what happened - a little of this, a little of that.

A look at the history of NFL teams that traded up for No. 1 overall picks and how it worked out

It’s really not. The fans didn’t give a shit about the records or history, they wanted the colors and name. Baltimore Browns would’ve been stupid. Sort of like Las Vegas Raiders is stupid, Or Tennessee Oilers would’ve been.

I don’t think anybody really acts like that.

The NFL does in terms of its records and history.

The name and colors are fine. I’m OK with that deal.

But that’s not the issue oop’s comment was referring to. The franchise records and history should belong to the franchise. The Browns/Ravens didn’t become an entirely new organization when they moved to Baltimore any more than the Oilers/Titans did when they moved to Tennessee.

The Ravens did not give away those records as a generous gesture. They did it as part of a settlement that kept Art Modell and the league from getting sued down to their shorts. It's been 25 seasons now. The Ravens have two Super Bowl wins, a couple of Hall of Famers and their own history. They don't need what they left behind.

How many other sports franchises have "no relation" to earlier versions? Milwaukee Brewers (Orioles, Seattle Pilots), San Jose Earthquakes (formerly Clash), Washington Nationals/Senators (Twins), Charlotte Hornets (Bobcats), Denver Nuggets (Denver Nuggets-NBL), Baltimore Orioles (Yankees), Baltimore Orioles (St. Louis Browns), Pittsburgh Pirates (changed name to Steelers in 1940), Colorado Rockies (NHL), Seattle Sounders (NASL), Portland Timbers (NASL), Vancouver Whitecaps (NASL), Yankees (multiple defunct football franchises). BTW - that the NW portion of the MLS was able to reclaim the names of the "Cascade Cup" participants was genius and worth every penny that may have been spent.

Yes they are. That was part of the deal the NFL made when they let that absolute waste of oxygen sell out the city and move the team to Baltimore.
