If he wants to salvage whatever the hell is left of his presidency, he needs to leave Melania and everyone in Florida, get back on AF1 pronto, and get this the hell settled.

 

Congress has flown the bill down to Mar-a-Lago for Trump to sign. He doesn't have to do anything but lift a pen and use it. The $600-$2000 controversy would then be irrelevant except as a squeeze play on Republican Senators. There'd be no chaos, the government would continue to function, etc. Since it's one of the few actual facts Trump cares about, a solid 1000 drop in the Dow Monday morning would likely have him sign it before lunch.

 

I don't know. Ain't gonna be any Dow election bumps at this stage. It can go down to 1,000 for all he cares. Probably would give him an "I told you so!" moment as he's dragged away.

 

You could be right, but Trump's very lazy and signing is the path of least resistance. It also allows him to play the hero and victim simultaneously. He likes those roles.

 

The Dow is the perfect Trump vessel. If it goes up, it’s because of him. If it goes down, it’s someone else’s fault. And of course nothing can be disproven about what he says.
