Gohmert is just dumb enough to file a bill.

Gotta hand it to Pelosi with the way she boxed R's into a corner with the $2,000 vote.

Trump teed it up for her.

In all the dick moves he’s done over the years, this ranks very high.

Remember when people said when he was running for President that he fucks over everyone he’s worked with?

Biden’s nominees will face a China gauntlet

Subhed: Every would-be Cabinet official can expect questions about how they'll confront Beijing

So, they can't just cravenly praise PRC's pandemic response and then beg for election help?

This is why I don't miss those who fled for Parler (that I didn't ignore already), some of the stupid memes or thoughts they'd post. Like "How come a liberal like Whoopi got to keep her show and a conservative like Tim Allen didn't?" Don't try to tell them Allen's last show sucked.

All due respect to AOC and the rest of The Squad, who I love, but could any of them played the GOP like Pelosi the last two years? And more to come in the next Congress.

I've posted this before, but the skill sets of a talented legislative leader and those of a pol good at the modern game of getting public and media attention to advance his/her agenda are so different as to be almost opposite in nature.

Funny, the only talent I see in being a legislative leader is your ability to draw public and media attention to yourself and raise money so you can stay in office.

No, the cat herding required to create legislative majorities for anything is a considerable talent. Pelosi has it and so does McConnell. The public doesn't like to see how the sausage gets made, so it's no surprise they're probably the country's two most unpopular pols, although the people who dislike Trump have a more intense dislike.

They are not doing Tip O'Neill's work.

The reason they are so unpopular has nothing to do with them making sausage. It's that their power is predicated on riling up the "bases" of their respective parties. And the idiocy of those bases turns off most people. Thus, they are unpopular. But that is what the cats you are saying they herd want, because that is how they raise money. Which is what keeps them in power.

This is particularly true of McConnell, but also Pelosi. He has been the opposite of a cat herder. His role has been to obstruct, obstruct, obstruct, obstruct, because that is what works with that particular base.

There is no guiding principle for either side, other than to stay in power (and benefit themselves personally). One side uses rhetoric appealing to rednecks and religious zealots, among others. The other side uses rhetoric appealing to various minorities and people who are deluded by promises of elected officials giving them 'free' stuff.

Affordable Care Act. Democratic priority for 60 years. Stacking the courts. Republican priority for just as long. McConnell and Pelosi kept their caucuses together to get those done, KNOWING they were risking their majorities in the process. CARES Act this year had opposition within both parties for ideological reasons. It passed anyway, and Trump sure didn't have anything to do with it. I get your ideological opposition to how the current US government works. But that doesn't mean these two aren't good workers at it.
