(Yes, he’s a conservative and yes, I know it ain’t happening.)

 

Y’all will not be surprised to discover that the Arizona GOP is not comprised of Arizona’s smart folks.

 

That's actually a better point than many of the rationalizations offered.

But it's not true for everyone, and certainly not for the lower middle classes.

If you made $65,000 or less and are filing jointly, your two stimulus payments will be more than your 2020 tax burden, even if the $2,000 proposal never gets approved. You're basically getting a one-year "Get out of paying tax free" card, with a few hundred dollars extra to boot. And you got all the regular federal government benefits as well. Except for a sane president.

All of that's perfectly fine, as long as the day of reckoning never comes. But if, by Ragu, it ever does, it will cost the average American much more than the $1,800 he received.

 

That'll buff right out.

 

This will terrify a couple of people here: the idea that some Democrats are not afraid of the GOP, not interested in kowtowing to the GOP, and don’t believe that they have to set their principles aside just because part of the GOP refuses to budge from its extremist positions.



Well, too bad.

The Republican Party is controlled by extremists. It’s fair to treat it like an entire organization of extremists until such time as it pushes the extremists out and is willing to start acting like an organization of mature patriotic adults once again.

 

They must be defeated and destroyed.

 

What's he saying? That holding a presidential candidate to account can only mean the guy loses an election? Accountability as defined by outcome?

 

This is the right place for this.

 

And here's another example of why I will never vote Republican again. Pelosi should not seat them or allow the measure on the floor.

Former GOP Sen/Sec. of Defense William Cohen on CNN calling for a new party led by Romney, Sasse, Collins, etc. If they broke away from the GOP and caucused as independents they'd have a lot more sway than they do now as lapdogs for McConnell and beholden to the Trump nutjobs.
