it was worth some level of scrutiny. In March. And it got it. And it was dismissed

When did Wall Street Ragu become Lab Rat Ragu?

That is probably true in some cases. But I have always understood the theory to be that it was a naturally occurring virus that was being studied at a lab. Certainly that occurs all the time.

    Ragu is crazy smart.

This isn't an opinion to "believe." Your appeals to made-up authorities, like "literally every expert to study it." notwithstanding.

When they harvest pathogens -- for example bat viruses in the wild-- and they serial passage them through cell cultures in a lab, whatever experts you are talking about couldn't definitely tell you that any given hybrid came from that cell culture or if it came from the wild (if they didn't already know). They can only guess. The practice of serial passage mimics a natural zoonotic jump.

For what it is worth, that is the kind of work they were doing in that lab in Wuhan supposedly. Supposedly that molecular biologist from Rutgers who is quoted in the New York story had been sounding the alarm about their work for years.

I have someone with a PhD in molecular and cellular biology sitting 50 feet from me right now.

Is that person doing pull-ups at a New Jersey high school tennis court?

My favorite virus conspiracy is that actually the U.S. created it, and it escaped from our lab, it circulated undetected last fall, somehow traveled back to Wuhan, and we were like, "Man! What a virus you've got there! ... you guys totally musta gotten that off of some bats!"

Under that theory, the virus evolved to infect humans, began infecting humans enough for Chinese scientists to notice it, then spontaneously stopped infecting humans for awhile until it had a chance to escape from the lab.

I don’t think he was Patient Zero, but he infected hundreds of people.

I don’t mean it was harvested because it infected humans. Maybe there are dozens of bat viruses being studied at the lab and this one got out and happens to infect humans.
