Did Mitch say that because he’s against impeachment , or was it more that Mitch said that it is a scheduling thing that they won’t be able to begin any impeachment trial until the 19th?

 

On January 20th, Schumer will become majority leader and he can then schedule anything he damn pleases any way he pleases. If Trump is out of office, he can refer the House impeachment to a committee, which is how non-presidential impeachments such as judges are handled.

Does it matter? What Mitch says is irrelevant. He does what he does for his own reasons, typically his own power base and what he sees as a win for the Republican party, with a generous side order of what is best for Mitch.
